- Are you interested in marketing yourself while simultaneously gaining practical experience in the counseling field?

If so, you probably already have state licensure in your plans. You may also want to consider becoming a National Certified Counselor (NCC). These two processes—national certification and state licensure—are separate and distinct, but have similar features and requirements depending on your state.
