Adrian Lira

Adrian Lira is a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (TXLPC-S) in Texas and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with expertise in clinical practice, counselor education, and behavioral health leadership.

Dr. Lira is the Director of Professional Development at The Menninger Clinic and Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine. In these roles, he leads hospital-wide training, continuing education, and staff development initiatives. His work focuses on workforce development and interdisciplinary collaboration, while and he also overseesing suicide risk risk-assessment protocols and providesing clinical training and consultation to psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, clinical social workers, and professional counselors.

Dr. Lira received a PhD in counselor education and supervision from Sam Houston State University, an MA in clinical psychology from the University of Houston Clear Lake, and his a BS in psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso. His areas of expertise include multicultural competence, trauma-informed care, and ethical clinical supervision. He serves on multiple professional committees, including NBCC’s Examination Sensitivity and Bias Review Committee, and is a Reviewer for the American Psychological Association Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship (IMFP) Program.

He is committed to advancing equity in mental health care and strengthening the post-licensure development of the counseling and behavioral health workforce.
