Stay Up to Date With NBCC’s Government Affairs Resources

NBCC has compiled a variety of resources to help you stay informed about government affairs concerning your work as a Counselor, along with ways to advocate for yourself, your clients, and the profession. The following links from our website feature helpful information relevant to Counselors, students, and other mental health professionals.

Grassroots Action Center

Interested Counselors, Counselor Educators, and Counselors-in-training who join our grassroots network help expand our advocacy efforts in various ways. Signup is free and only takes a few minutes, and you can choose specific areas of interest.

In our Grassroots Action Center, you’ll find recent legislative developments related to Counseling and mental health, including initiatives impacting the workforce such as education and professional degree status, Medicare reimbursement, state issues, and more. It’s also home to our Voter Voice campaigns, designed to simplify legislative concerns, explain potential implications for Counselors, and offer suggested correspondence to legislators. The Grassroots Action Center also features a regularly updated blog with entries on important issues and progress updates.

Policy, Advocacy, and Research in Counseling Center (PARC)

PARC is dedicated to empowering Counselors and shaping the future of the profession through research and advocacy. It provides information about current research, including highlighted studies; free webinars on topics such as the Counseling Compact, artificial intelligence, and more; and “2-Minute Drill” videos offering insights on important topics. PARC also hosts an Engagement Hub with information for Counselors to support advocacy efforts, including an Advocacy Toolkit , congressional documents, and links to NBCC’s official letters sharing our position on critical issues with federal policymakers. Counselor’s Perspective features innovative insights on Counseling-related topics shared by mental health experts and other leaders in the profession.
